Reading Notes: Bluejay and His Companions, Part A

Bluejay has four companions, the Land Otter, the Beaver, his chief, and another man.  They all regularly go out seal-hunting.  They also have another roommate, Grouse.  But whenever they hunted, they only gave Grouse the scraps of the seals.  Bluejay also always picked on and made fun of Grouse.  It's kind of like Bluejay and his friends are the popular kids in school and Grouse is one of their classmates that they keep "mean-girling".

Grouse never complained, but one day, he made a wooden seal which he used to trick the five companions into thinking was a seal.  So when the five went seal-hunting, they harpooned the wooden seal and it dragged their canoe so far away from shore that they didn't know how to get back home.

On their journey back home, they stopped by several villages in which they were held until Bluejay and his companions could win a given challenge. And when they finally got home, they made sure that from then on, they would give Grouse the biggest seal.
