Reading Notes: Homer's Odyssey, Part A
- The story is told in first-person point of view of Odysseus so we can see through his eyes and feel what he's feeling.
- Odysseus is very stubborn and hardheaded.
- There's a lot of weeping and crying in this story.
- "The Curse of Polyphemus"
- Despite his crews' pleas and their grief, Odysseus keeps recklessly putting his crew in harms way.
- Eurylochus, not wanting to lose anymore of his comrades, pleads with Odysseus to leave while we still can.
- Hermes tells Odysseus how to free his men.
- "On Circe's Island"
- Odysseus and his men stay at Circe's for a whole year.
- Circe tells Odysseus that he must travel somewhere else before going home, and he is very disappointed by this.
